Victory Garden…Everybody Loves a Winner

The other dirty hippie and I had a victory garden, because everybody likes a winner and because if even one piece of fruit or vegetable grows we would consider ourselves winners.
So here we go, we’ve gotten a couple yellow squash, some zucchini, a butternut squash or two, tomatoes, and what probably qualifies as an ear or corn or two but those might remain in the non-eaten side of things.
Oh, and there is a strawberry bush in the very back that i can’t easily get to to check if we’ve got …

Buy Local First…if only it were that easy…

I love the idea, really I do. And most of the time I do indeed buy local first. My barrista of choice is the Coffee Garden, either 9th and 9th or downtown on main. I always head to the Robin’s Nest for sandwiches at lunch instead of the other chains around the corner…

Robbed

Friday during the day, some very not hippie crack head broke into our house and stole some of our stuff. And it sucks. Seriously sucks. Nothing horribly irreplaceable was taken, no one was hurt, puppies guarded the basement, so we were very lucky.
So what are we doing this Saturday? I’m glad you asked. We are:

Replacing a 100 year old single pane piece of glass
Cleaning up all of the finger print dusting material
Trying to regain sanity

The wonders of tofu…

Tofu is a food of Chinese origin,[1] made by coagulating soy milk, and then pressing the resulting curds into blocks. There are many different varieties of tofu, including fresh tofu and tofu that has been processed in some way.
